just waiting
We have found a few more porcelain insulators but nothing too interesting of late. Little I is as proud as ever of her collection and is showing anyone that will look. It is still lots of fun and we will keep looking I will let everyone know if I find anything interesting.

We are still on the hunt for new colors for little I. We are hoping to take her to an insulator show sometime soon. There aren't that many held close to our area though. I have noticed in her collection that there are several shades of blue and teal that are very hard to tell one from the other if they are not in bright light. But for example in the sun light she has one that looks almost neon blue but inside looks rather plain. It is one of my favorites. I am hoping when we make it to one of the shows to see what others have and compare. So far the only thing I have been able to compare them too are ones online and our own. The pictures are wonderful but I have noticed that the lighting that they are taken in directly impacts the color that they appear to be. Issy has a light purple that in picture looks very deep purple. Well, hope everyone that runs by this has a wonderful day.

Working on Issy's collection
Well it has been slow going lately. Been on the hunt for some interesting insulators but found this lovely bottle that says Thomas Edison on the side. Thought it was a nice little find. Issy is as excited as ever about her collection. She is now asking us for certain colors and hopefully we will be able to find them. I am hoping over the summer to help build her a small show case for the ones she likes most. Hopefully it work out.

This is one of our most interesting finds thus far. It's color is very hard to verify. It is a CD: 162 with Primary Embrossing being H. G. Co. also (f-skirt) H. G. Co. / Patent May 2, 1893 (R-skirt) Petticoat, it is in great condition no cracks or such. We are leaning toward saying the color is a sneaky green, it is very lovely.

Little I's Personal Collection
Little I's insulator collection is growing again. She Keeps all of her insulators on her dresser. She has several different kinds. Hemingray of several different CD numbers, AM. Co., Brookfield, and others. She is very proud of them. I am so proud of her. For a three year old she takes such good care of them. Her favorite is her purple ones followed by her smaller sized ones. She calls the small ones her baby insulators. I am hoping that one day she can enter one of the young collector shows. I think she would enjoy it almost as much as her father would. I hope very much that she stays interested in this. It is a very special collection and will give her something she can continue to collect well into adulthood that will have sentimental value as well as money value.

Collecting Insulators as a family
This has been a very interesting experience collecting glass insulators with my little family. It started out with just my husband and has became a family thing once our 3 year old daughter became interested in them. She now has several that are all her own and then the rest we share as a family. Collecting insulators is very simple to get into because they are unique and interesting but as you get more and more into it and start looking into the history of them it becomes fascinating. I will try to get everyone the family involved in this blog and hopefully it will be interesting to find out what we learn about insulators and the different types we have.
